Kirsten Mickelson joined Gallagher Bassett in 2023 and leads the cyber practice group within our GB Specialty division, which offers claims and risk management expertise to navigate the rapidly expanding cyber market. She is responsible for building out and training up a best-in-class cyber claims team, developing practice group standards, best practices, as well as strategic and tactical approaches to increasing the organization’s footprint within the rapidly expanding cyber market. She is experienced in cyber, technology, privacy, and data security matters, specifically focusing on cyber incident response, data breach response, privacy class actions, and data privacy compliance issues. 

Prior to joining Gallagher Bassett, Kirsten was a Senior Team Manager and Counsel at Coalition Inc. where she counseled customers in preparing for, and responding to, data breaches in their network infrastructure. She regularly presented on ransomware trends, OFAC advisory updates and the changing threat landscape. She also led and professionally developed high-performing teams, with a focus on superior customer service and cost-effective results. 

Prior to this position, Kirsten was a Senior Claims Counsel at Hiscox where she worked with affected cyber policyholders to respond to hundreds of cyber incidents and third-party claims involving data breaches, cyber extortion, ransomware, DDoS attacks, and business interruption losses. 

Kirsten began her legal career at a multi-national large law firm where she counseled insurer clients on policy language, product development, coverage and regulatory matters.  She also handled high-profile coverage litigation against insurance clients
