Jonathan Roomer
Jonathan Roomer is co-founder and Chief Customer Officer of YuLife, a Life & Benefits insurtech that has scaled across the UK, US and South Africa. A chartered actuary by training, Jonathan has spent his career working at the intersection of insurance, customer trust, behaviour change, technology and commercial growth.
At YuLife, Jonathan has helped scale the business to £20m+ ARR, £120m GWP, 2,000+ employer policies and 1.5m+ members. His remit has spanned insurance operations, onboarding, customer success, account management, revenue expansion, customer insight and operating strategy. Under his leadership, YuLife sustained NPS 84, CSAT 4.8/5 and 95%+ logo retention, while improving ARPU by 50%, increasing products per customer from 1.0 to 1.7, and shifting SME servicing to a digital-led model that reduced cost-to-serve by 62% while maintaining customer experience.
Before YuLife, Jonathan worked in life actuarial consulting at KPMG, including a secondment to the FCA focused on conduct risk and business-model analysis. He later helped build KPMG’s High Growth Technology practice, advising around 200 startups on funding, growth and commercial strategy.
Jonathan speaks regularly on insurance, AI, behaviour change, trust and the future of customer experience in regulated markets. His recent talks include “Don’t Trust Me, I Work in Insurance,” “AI Is Going to Make Insurance Worse,” and “It Is Time to Give Up on Education.” He brings an actuarial brain, commercial operating experience and a storyteller’s instinct to the question of how insurance can become more useful, trusted and human before the claim.
