Ethan Berg

Co-founder and CEO, Phyll

Ethan Berg is the co-founder and CEO of Phyll, the physical intelligence layer for insurance, turning footage the world already captures into risk intelligence underwriters price on. In Phyll's first 6 months, Ethan led the company into Lloyd's Lab Cohort 16; into hundreds of thousands in paid contracts, including US pilots with carriers and MGAs, utility companies, municipalities, and even DoD/MoD; into partnerships with fleets and dashcam companies, opening access to over 100K vehicles covering the majority of the US/EU every month; into a competitively awarded Innovate UK contract alongside BT and a UK MoD-linked partner; and onto two winners' stages in a single week: the Market Choice Award at Lloyd's Lab Demo Day and the inaugural Risk Mitigation Startup Award, judged by the leadership of Lloyd's, The Hartford, and Google Cloud.

Before Phyll, Ethan has spent 8 years building spatial intelligence and computer vision systems. He previously founded Agora World, a no-code 3D and geospatial simulation platform used by more than 10,000 creators and enterprise teams, including the US DoD, American Tower, QBE, Hyundai, Audi, and the Red Cross — and winner of Cesium's inaugural grant to “democratize geospatial creation”. Before that, he worked in business development and product at Slyce, the visual search company behind computer vision product identification tools for Walmart, Home Depot, and Neiman Marcus, and built one of the earliest social XR commerce platforms as a student in 2019. Across all of it, Ethan has, over and over, translated cutting-edge spatial technology into systems the physical world actually runs on. With Phyll, that means fixing the broken link between our infrastructure and the intelligence we need to insure it. He splits his time between Philadelphia and the Lloyd's market in London.
