Dave Wechsler is one of the earliest Insurtech operators to transition into venture capital. At OMERS Ventures, he leads the firm’s Insurtech investment strategy, backing standout companies such as Clearcover, Foresight and WeFox. He currently serves as a Board Director/Observer at Clearcover and Foresight, along with several fintech investments.

Before joining OMERS, Dave was VP of Growth at Hippo, where he led Smart Home initiatives and emerging product strategy. His Insurtech journey began at Comcast Xfinity in 2017, where he created a first-of-its-kind homeowners insurance distribution partnership with Hippo, secured his P&C license, and launched a national insurance agency. He also played a key role in Comcast’s investment in Hippo’s $25M Series B.

Prior to his investing career, Dave founded and scaled multiple technology startups, giving him firsthand insight into the challenges entrepreneurs face—from zero to one, to growth and beyond.

Dave writes and speaks regularly about the future of insurance, with a focus on AI, embedded distribution, and blockchain applications. He holds a BA in Policy Studies from Dickinson College and remains a licensed property and casualty insurance agent.
