Bob Bastian
Bob Bastian is the Chief Information and Technology Officer (CIO and CTO) for Prudential’s international and
U.S. retirement and insurance businesses and leads the firm’s service capabilities in the U.S. These
businesses provide financial advice and develop, distribute, and service income and protection solutions
for individuals and institutional clients.
Bastian oversees the businesses’ technology capabilities in 12 countries, including the U.S., Japan, and
Emerging Markets in Asia and Latin America. The U.S. businesses include Group Insurance, Individual Life
Insurance, Retirement Strategies, and Prudential Advisors.
Leading cross-functional teams of technology and operations experts, Bastian is renowned for his ability to craft
elegant solutions for complex challenges and establish strategic business partnerships.
Bastian’s dedication to seamless technology integration with business strategies has positioned Prudential as a
prominent global leader in the financial services sector. Under his leadership, Prudential now boasts industryleading technology and service capabilities, including common service and claims platforms across its U.S.
businesses and advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities, encompassing Generative AI and machine
learning.
Bastian serves on The President’s Leadership Council at Stevens Institute of Technology and is a member of the
New Jersey State Advisory Board of The Salvation Army.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob is a martial arts enthusiast and resides in New Jersey with his wife and
daughter. Bastian earned his master’s degree in management from George Washington University, a bachelor’s
degree in history, holds certifications from Scaled Agile, Inc., and is a certified Project Management
Professional (PMP®).
