Astrid Malval-Beharry
Astrid Malval-Beharry is the Founder and President of StratMaven, a strategy & M&A advisory firm operating at the intersection of P&C insurance and technology. She advises carriers, MGAs, InsurTech vendors, and private equity investors on growth, M&A, capacity strategy, and operating-model decisions. Her ability to see what others miss, craft compelling deal theses, and deliver execution-ready strategies makes her a sought-after advisor.
Her M&A work has shaped more than $5 billion in transactions, with revenue multiples ranging from 8x to 50x. She works both buy and sell side, from deal thesis through integration. She has also conducted more than 2,000 expert interviews on insurance, AI, and digital strategy, giving her working visibility across underwriting, claims, distribution, fraud, telematics, imagery analytics, and increasingly Agentic AI deployments.
A growing share of Astrid's work sits on both sides of the capacity table. She helps MGAs build the data discipline, governance, and technology stack that capacity providers now treat as table stakes, and she helps reinsurers, fronting partners, and PE-backed capital providers diligence the MGAs they back.
Before founding StratMaven, Astrid held senior executive roles at LexisNexis Risk Solutions, the $2B insurance and risk arm of RELX (NYSE: RELX). She led strategy, product, and M&A, including the $4.2B acquisition of ChoicePoint (NYSE: CPS), the largest transaction in RELX history. Earlier, she ran corporate strategy at ADP TotalSource and was a management consultant at BCG, advising financial services and insurance carriers. She began her career executing investment transactions at the International Finance Corporation, the private-sector arm of the World Bank.
Astrid holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where she was a Baker Scholar (top 5% of her class), an M.S. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Miami (Summa Cum Laude). She is a member of The Institutes CPCU Society, the Society of Insurance Research (SIR) Research Committee, and is a mentor with RISE Professionals.
