Arun Balakrishnan

Arun Balakrishnan is Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Xceedance. Since co-founding the company in 2013, he has led its expansion to more than 5,500 professionals serving over 350 insurance organizations across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Over the past decade, Arun has guided the company’s growth as Xceedance has built integrated capabilities spanning underwriting, claims, actuarial, technology, analytics, and operations to help insurers modernize how they work and compete.

He is widely recognized for his perspectives on how artificial intelligence is changing insurance by reshaping operating models, leadership, and the industry’s economics. He frequently speaks and writes about AI, insurance innovation, entrepreneurship, and operational transformation, challenging conventional thinking about how insurers can create a durable competitive advantage in an increasingly intelligent industry.

Before founding Xceedance, Arun was CEO of Berkshire Hathaway’s insurance operations in India after launching one of the country’s early online insurance ventures. His career has consistently centered on building businesses at the intersection of insurance, technology, and innovation.

In addition to leading Xceedance, Arun is an active investor in early-stage technology companies and enjoys mentoring entrepreneurs as they scale their businesses.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Nautical Sciences from Mumbai University and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
