Alice Kane
Alice T. Kane serves as the Superintendent of Insurance for the State of New Mexico, where she directs regulatory oversight of the insurance industry, ensuring market stability, consumer protection, and compliance with state and federal standards. She brings decades of executive and legal experience to the position, including leadership of complex investigations, regulatory settlements, and financial management of multi-billion-dollar portfolios.
Her prior executive roles include General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Asset Management at New York Life Insurance Company and General Counsel of the Americas and Interim Global General Counsel at Zurich Insurance Group. She also practiced in private law as a Partner at Duane Morris LLP and Counsel at Clifford Chance LLP, advising insurers, reinsurers, and startups on governance, compliance, and regulatory matters before U.S. and international authorities. Her published work and participation in the NAIC and IAIS highlight her as a recognized voice in corporate governance, cybersecurity, and global insurance standards.
Ms. Kane’s governance experience extends to board service with Guess? Inc., Global Crossing Ltd., Corinthian Colleges, Inc., and Pensco Trust Company, where she chaired governance and compensation committees and contributed to independent investigations. She previously served as a Governor of the NASD and remains active in national and international regulatory forums. She earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law, completed the PMD program at Harvard Business School, and holds a B.A. in Political Science with Honors from Manhattanville College.
