Rick McCathron CPCU CIC brings more than 25 years of P&C experience to his role as President of Hippo, the home insurance provider that created a new standard of care and protection for homeowners. Rick joined Hippo in 2017 to establish the company’s insurance operations and bring Hippo’s smart, simple and proactive home insurance products to a national scale. In just over three years, Hippo has become a national leader in the U.S. homeowners market, reaching more than 70 percent of the total U.S. homeowners population. Martha Notaras is Managing Partner at Brewer Lane Ventures, investing in early stage insurtech and fintech companies. Christian Pedak is CEO of LAMIE direct, one of Europe’s fastest growing InsurTECHs. As a passionate innovator, Christian is shaping the future of insurance by constantly creating unique insurance solutions. He studied law at the University of Vienna and the University of Southern California and Finance at the London School of Economics. Sten Saar is CEO of commercial motor insurance provider, Zego. An entrepreneur since an early age, Sten founded a number of companies before co-founding Zego, and worked at other notable UK-based start-ups such as One Fine Stay and Deliveroo at an early stage. At Zego, Sten currently presides over a team of around 300 employees and counting, who use an innovative combination of best-in-class technology and sophisticated data sources to offer insurance products that save businesses time and money. So far, Zego has raised $150m at a $1.1bn valuation, making the company the first UK-founded insurtech unicorn.

Darcy joined Cover Genius in 2018 from The Hartford, where she was the Product Director for Cyber, Tech, Media and Miscellaneous Professional Liability products and developed The Hartford’s first admitted Cyber policy. In addition to product development and portfolio management experience, Darcy spent time at AIG and the specialty division of Liberty Mutual in different roles including claims counsel and litigation management. Phil has a long track record in start ups having built three business’ in the insurance sector, the last of them becoming the largest white label supplier of general Insurance in the UK. He went on to invest (and Chair) a number of business’ from music, to sports clothing to the insurance sector, and worked with a range of Private Equity Houses in their insurance related investments such as Simply Business, winner of 'Best Company to Work For' two years running. Alongside this he chaired two charities and spent 10 years as Deputy Chair of his local hospital. In 2017, Phil stepped back into the front line setting up DeadHappy to take on Life insurance, and with Venture capital support, is aiming to completely change the customer experience and purpose of the product.
Rick is a Co-Founder and General Partner at Equal Ventures, a $56m early-stage VC fund focused on bridging the digital divide.
