State Farm Startup Pitch Competition: Sutro
Sutro is building an AI-powered platform that helps insurance companies generate complex documents using reusable rules and components.
In property and casualty insurance, policies are governed by thousands of interconnected rules: what's covered, who qualifies, and how much it costs. Today, those rules are buried across regulatory filings, spreadsheets, and legacy systems. That fragmentation slows time to market, causes lost sales due to inconsistent quotes, and leads to costly errors at the point of claim.
Their platform extracts scattered business rules and turns them into modular, reusable components that insurance teams use to generate quotes, binders, and policies. This allows insurers to launch new products in days instead of months, accelerating time to market and cutting out wasted resources.
Over time, Sutro will expand to support the entire insurance lifecycle through the same unified logic. Brokers will generate consistent quotes backed by the same rules. And when a claim is filed, adjusters will see precisely what was promised and why, dramatically reducing claim disputes and mismatched payouts.
