James (Jim) Hettenbach has almost 20 years of experience at Unum and heads Unum Ventures. 

Under Jim’s leadership, the Unum Ventures team engages in both venture partnering and venture investing to drive strategic capabilities into Unum through a dedicated team and budget.  It creates deep partnerships with start-ups through equity investments via a corporate venture capital fund to drive long-term strategic alignment, value creation and capture. Since inception, Jim led 13 CVC investments and the team has commercialized over 20 start-up opportunities.
