Bob Bastian is Prudential’s Chief Data and AI Officer, appointed to establish and lead the firm’s data, analytics, and artificial intelligence strategy. He serves as the steward for how data and AI are governed, protected, and applied as core business assets to drive sustainable growth, strengthen risk management, and improve customer outcomes across Prudential’s global enterprise. In this role, he is accountable for enterprise outcomes enabled by data and AI, including improved decision-making, operational discipline, and responsible innovation, while ensuring the capabilities, standards, and governance are in place for secure and scalable use.

Previously, Bastian served as Chief Information and Technology Officer for Prudential’s U.S. and International Retirement and Insurance businesses, where he led global technology and operations supporting retirement, income, and protection solutions for individual and institutional clients. He oversaw teams across 12 countries, including the United States, Japan, and emerging markets in Asia and Latin America, and partnered closely with business leaders to modernize platforms, enhance resilience, and accelerate product delivery. This experience laid the foundation for enterprise-wide data and AI leadership by integrating technology, operations, and business outcomes across diverse regulatory and market environments.

Throughout his career, Bastian has led large, cross-functional global teams spanning technology, data, and operations. He is known for translating complex challenges into scalable, secure, and repeatable capabilities that enable consistent execution and informed decision-making at scale. Under his leadership, Prudential has strengthened its unified operating foundation across the U.S. businesses, expanded advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities, and accelerated the adoption of data-driven decision intelligence at scale.

Bastian serves on several boards and advisory councils, including the board of Prudential Holdings of Japan; the founding circle of the Stevens Finance Institute; the New York CIO Advisory Board; and as Chair of the LIMRA CIO Council. He is also a member of the Stevens Institute of Technology President’s Leadership Council and the New Jersey State Advisory Board of The Salvation Army.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Bob is a martial arts enthusiast and resides in New Jersey with his wife and daughter. He earned a master’s degree in management from George Washington University, a bachelor’s degree in history, holds certifications from Scaled Agile, Inc., and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®).
