Trevor Burgess is the President & CEO of Neptune (2022 Inc. 5000 #205), the largest provider of private flood insurance nationwide, through agents and online at Neptune makes it easy to buy insurance by using award-winning Artificial Intelligence models to protect homeowners and businesses from catastrophic risks such as flooding. Through its Jumpstart brand, Neptune also offers parametric insurance including earthquake insurance. Neptune's Model-as-a-Service platform connects customers, agents, Neptune, and the global insurance markets. Neptune's 160,000+ policies are backed by AM Best rated carriers such as AXA XL, MS Transverse, and Lloyd's. Mr. Burgess is a prolific fin-tech inventor with 4 patents awarded and 8 more under application. His latest patent covers Triton, the AI MaaS engine used by Neptune. Trevor is Chairman of TRB Development, a diversified real estate company and is the seed round investor in Charles River Data, a data science and machine learning consulting firm. He formerly served on the board of Zeguro, a cybersecurity insuretech acquired by HSB/MunichRe. Trevor is the former CEO of C1 Bank and its holding company, C1 Financial (NYSE: BNK). Trevor was named the 2014 American Banker Community Banker of the Year and was recognized as the 2013 Ernst & Young Florida Entrepreneur of the Year - financial services category. In 2014 SNL named C1 the 6th fastest growing bank in the country. C1 was acquired by Bank OZK in July 2016 generating a 47% return for its IPO investors in less than 24 months. Taking his company public on the NYSE in 2014, Mr. Burgess became the first openly gay CEO of a publicly-traded bank. In 2015 the Financial Times in conjunction with OUTstanding named Mr. Burgess one of the leading global LGBT executives and in 2016, NBC News named Trevor one of "11 Out Business Leaders You Should Know." In 2019 OUTstanding and Yahoo! Finance listed Trevor as one of the top 100 global LGBT+ executive role models. In 2021 CNBC profiled Trevor for their Behind The Desk series and in 2022 he was featured across NBCUniversal's platforms for Pride month. Mr. Burgess served as a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, where he executed IPOs and other capital raising transactions as an investment banker in the Equity Capital Markets Division. During his nearly 10 years at Morgan Stanley, he executed over 100 transactions raising over $50 billion. After graduating from Dartmouth College in 1994 Mr. Burgess was a consultant at Monitor Company.
