Pawan Verma is executive vice president and global chief information officer of MetLife Inc. In this role, he oversees a team of more than 11,000 technologists and has responsibility for leading software development across the end-to-end customer journey, digital customer experience, technology strategy, architecture, and shared technology platforms to drive remarkable customer experiences that differentiate MetLife. He sees technology solutions through the eyes of customers, recognizing the need to balance high tech and human touch to enable commercial success. Verma is leading an overall technology transformation strategy that brings the Global Technology team closer to the business and the customers MetLife serves. The approach centers around an Agile delivery model and product-aligned teams that are empowered with end-to-end accountability to design, build, and deliver solutions that enhance every phase of the customer journey. Verma joined MetLife in November 2020 from Footlocker, Inc., where he served as the global information and customer experience officer for five years leading a team of more than 4,000 employees. He was responsible for transforming the technology, data and supply chain ecosystems and creating cloud-based, connected omni-channel customer journeys across stores, web, and mobile to serve millions of customers globally. Through the creative use of data analytics, artificial intelligence, well thought-out processes, and strong partnerships, Verma and his team yielded a number of revenue augmenting ideas for Foot Locker. Prior to this, Verma served as vice president of digital and marketing technology for Target Corp. where he managed mobile and digital development, data, cloud engineering and architecture. During his tenure at Target Corp., he successfully led the company through the 2013 data breach crisis. He also held eCommerce mobile, and software engineering leadership roles with Convergys Corporation and Verizon Wireless, including co-leading the engineering redesign and leading the launch of the first iPhone on a new network. Verma has been recognized by Forbes with the 2019 CIO Innovation Award for his digital and data work at Footlocker that yielded revenue augmenting innovation. He is a strong believer that diversity, inclusion and belonging drives greater organizational success. He is a Board and founding member of TechPACT, an organization committed to addressing inequality in the technology space, a member of MetLife’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Council and a sponsor of MetLife’s Girls Who Code program. Verma holds a B.S. in mathematics from Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, an M.S. in computer application and software engineering from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in India and an MBA from Kent State University, Ohio.
