Maureen McQueen
Global COO
Elevance Health
Maureen oversees industry-defining initiatives for Fortune 50, marquee brands in the insurance and investment banking industries, including Elevance Health, MetLife and Bear Stearns. She currently serves as Chief Operations Officer at Elevance Health’s Commercial and Specialty Business. She is board-ready to help companies gain critical insight into scaling or transforming their technology operations, as well as understanding how to address longer-term business strategy and infrastructure challenges after the shock waves of the current public health and economic crises.
In her current role at Elevance Health, Maureen oversees the Operations and Information Technology organization, leading the strategic direction of the Operations, Digital and Information Technology teams: 10,000 employees across multiple sites servicing 31M US customers, processing 390M claims and 14M calls annually in 14 markets.
Previously, as Senior Vice President and Global Service and Operations Officer at MetLife, she oversaw an international team of more than 5,000 employees supporting more than 60M customers worldwide. She led highly energized teams with an approach focused on transparency, clearly demonstrating the value to the business and the customer experience and has served as the catalyst for MetLife achieving an NPS more than three times the industry average while at the same time leading the company’s Pandemic Response Team across 41 countries during Covid-19. Maureen was instrumental in MetLife’s $16.2B acquisition of ALICO, which increased its share of earnings outside the US to ~45%, and masterminded the highly matrixed, global transformation of the company’s data strategy to significantly enhance customer data security and streamline operations, overseeing the migration of 1.7 PB of data across 4,000 servers in 34 countries into three data centers. A tenacious self-starter, Maureen put herself through night school while working her way up from an entry-level position at Bear Stearns to Managing Director. She graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Business Management from DeSales University and then went on to earn her MBA. She also holds leadership certificates from the Wharton School of Business and Harvard University and a Certificate of Corporate Governance from INSEAD. Maureen has served on many boards including MetLife Europe d.a.c, American Heart Association, Marbles Museum and board chair for Go Red for Women, American Heart Association.
