Jim DeMarco

Insurance Practice Lead
As head of Insurance for the Americas in Microsoft’s worldwide financial services industry team, Jim works with executive leadership at Microsoft’s top insurance customers to develop deep, enduring digital partnerships that can transform the sector. Jim’s work focuses on digital insurance, cyber risk mitigation, AI ethics, reinventing customer experiences, and digitally transforming underwriting and claims. Jim also leads the insurance advisory practice group for Microsoft globally. Jim has been with Microsoft since 2015, building on a career in regulated industries. Prior roles include being CTO of multiple businesses, running regional business units, and leading product management and marketing. Jim has more than 25 years’ experience in go-to-market planning and has both led and advised businesses focusing on market disruption and transformation. Jim has a track record of turning around underperforming businesses and driving sustainable profitability. In addition to his role at Microsoft, Jim is an Adjunct Lecturer at Northwestern University, where he teaches Digital Transformation Strategy and Planning as part of Northwestern’s MIS program.
