Francois Theron is the Deputy CEO of Discovery Insure and has been with the group for over two decades. He has served in various roles during his tenure, including as the Chief Operating Officer for Discovery Insure as well as previously being the COO of Discovery Health covering over 3.5 million lives. He also worked on Discovery’s global ventures in the United Kingdom and the United States. As part of his current role as Deputy CEO for Discovery Insure, he was instrumental in establishing Discovery Insure as the fastest growing short term insurer in South Africa and leads the international expansion of Discovery Insure’s unique driver behaviour programme, Vitality Drive, which was launched in the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia in recent years and are expanding rapidly across various other regions. Vitality is grounded on a shared value insurance model based on 25 years of behavioural change experience and present in 43 countries through it’s heath and life programmes. During Francois’s career at Discovery he won Operations Executive of the year twice and was selected as Discovery’s Leader of the Year in 2004. Francois completed his M.Comm in Business Management. An avid mountain biker, Francois has completed three Absa Cape Epics, and as an accomplished runner has also completed the New York and Cape Town marathons. Francois is energised by getting things done, and reaching complex and challenging business milestones. He is passionate about shared-value insurance, and delivering exceptional service and value to clients and brokers alike.
