Bode Pedro is a creative tech entrepreneur, venture builder, and investor with over 15 years of experience founding, launching, and managing relevant tech-enabled ventures in Africa's largest economy – Nigeria. He is the Founder and CEO of Casava Inc. – a licensed Insurtech and Microinsurance Underwriter. Casava is Nigeria's first 100% digital insurance company, reshaping insurance to be enjoyable, affordable, valuable, and convenient for Nigerian consumers and small businesses. In February 2022, Casava raised $4m in venture funding, the largest pre-seed raise for an insurtech in Africa. Before Casava, Bode was the Founder and former CEO of Veda Technology, an indigenous computer manufacturing firm that became an integral part of Nigeria's manufacturing industry, pioneering local computer design. As co-founder of SquarePine Investments, Bode has founded or contributed to the success of Africa's leading tech and media companies, including BellaNaija, MotoCheck, Okadabooks, MoneyMie, BigCabal, Herconomy, Kippa, and Lenco amongst others. In 2009, Bode received the IT & Telecoms Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Nigerian Telecoms Awards, becoming the award's youngest recipient. He also won the Business Owner of the Year Award at the 2011 Future Awards and the 2022 Insurtech Award by BusinessDay. In January 2023, Bode launched ASTRA Fellowship - A global program providing its first cohort of 40 software engineers with personal development, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills required to solve Africa's challenges through innovation. Bode Pedro is a graduate of Harvard’s prestigious Program for Leadership Development (PLD) - an accelerated alternative to an Executive MBA; and holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Maryland Baltimore, USA. He is a senior member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and the chairman of the Certified Computer Manufacturers of Nigeria.
