Byron Clymer
Byron is an accomplished executive with 30+ years of technology, leadership and management experience. Currently, Byron serves as the executive vice president and global chief information officer for Lockton companies. He oversees the company’s security and information technology organization and is responsible for Lockton’s technology transformation initiatives taking Lockton into the next decade.
In 2016 Byron started Approach Logic consulting services helping new and seasoned business leaders navigate the complex information technology landscape. With the ability to engage at all levels of the organization, Byron provided short term problem solving and long-term strategic thinking across the hospitality, manufacturing, telecommunications, healthcare and financial services industries.
In 2012 Byron joined FreightQuote.com as the chief information officer. He oversaw the strategy, operation and support of FreightQuote’s technology platforms including FreightQuote’s ecommerce environment generating over fifty percent of the company’s revenue. Leveraging technology and business experience Byron helped grow the company year over year. In 2014 Byron’s leadership was key in preparing the company to be acquired by CH Robinson, the largest freight broker in the industry.
Prior to FreightQuote, Byron was vice president-IT operations at CenturyLink Corporation, a Fortune 500 company and the third largest telecommunications provider in the US. He was responsible for the production platforms supporting the company's $20B revenue stream and led both post-merger IT integrations of EMBARQ and QWEST Communications into CenturyLink. Preceding CenturyLink, Byron was the Vice President-Application Development for EMBARQ where he was responsible for all application platforms driving revenue for the company. He led the separation of the EMBARQ IT application platforms from Sprint after the Sprint/Nextel merger.
Byron started his career as a software engineer writing code in C, C++, Java and a number of other object oriented variants.
Byron holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
Byron and his wife Darcy live in Overland Park and have two boys. The youngest is a sophmore in high school and into all sports. The oldest is a junior at Virginia Tech in the Corp of Cadets with Army ROTC. The family enjoys times together by venturing into the great outdoors on vacations and backpacking trips.
