Andrew Schafer is the current Vice President and Head of Workplace Benefits Solutions at Principal.  He has 26 years of experience as an actuary and member of Principal’s Workplace Benefits leadership team.

Workplace Benefits at Principal consists of Group Dental, Group Disability (STD, LTD, PFML), Group Life, and Supplemental Health (Vision, Critical Illness, Accident, Hospital Indemnity).  

Andrew received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Northern Iowa in 1996 and his Master of Science in Statistics and Actuarial Science from University of Iowa in 1998.  He and his family reside at home in Ankeny, Iowa.
